The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Home Department in collaboration with Insurelisience Solution (Frankfurt School of Finance and Management), Swiss Re and Tata AIG organized a Two Day workshop on Strengthening Community Resilience to Climate Change and Disaster Risk on the 27th and 28th of April, 2022 at Hotel Vivor, Kohima.

Shri Kazheto Kinimi, Advisor NSDMA in his inaugural address said DRR and climate change adaption have emerged as two key development issues that need to be incorporated into policy making, planning and implementation. Shri Johnny Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer, NSDMA in his introduction speech said the workshop aims to help understand the PM’s 10 Point agenda for DRR, along with this it is also to develop an actionable plan for building disaster resilience in the State. The welcome address was delivered by Shri Abhijit Sinha, IAS, Home Commissioner, Nagaland.

The resource persons for the workshop were Mr. Andreas Bollman, Faber Consultant; Mr. Eugen Doce, Co-Head, ISF Management; Col. Sanjay Srivastava, Chairman, Climate Resilient Observing Systems Promotion Council (CROPC); Mr. Madhukar Sinha, Tata AIG; Mr. Thomas Haller, Swiss Re; Miss Girija Biyani, Swiss Re and Dr. Manoj KJ Phukan, Principal Scientist & Investigator, Geoscience Technology Division, CSIR-NEIST.

Other resource person from within the State were Mr. Rendemo Shitio, Assistant Manager (Response & Communication) NSDMA; Mr. Kinilo Kessen, Project Scientist, Nagaland State Climate Change Cell, NASTEC and Mrs. Kiniholi Kinimi, Assistant Director, Directorate of Urban Development.
