The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Noklak, in collaboration with 12 Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) launched a two-week Familiarization Exercise in Noklak district from 21st March, 2023, at Govt. High School, Noklak Village. The second and third day of the exercise was held in the White Hall of Noklak village and Christian High School Noklak.

The NDRF personnel explained about the precautions to be taken during occurrence of disaster. The team also gave a demonstration of the rescue operation, and way of operating rescue equipment, giving first-aid to injured persons and other related acts of rescue to the attended participants.
Apart from demonstration on disaster management, the NDRF team explained the people about disaster preparedness and safety tips to reduce the extent of disaster. They also demonstrated about various techniques to rescue people caught during disasters, like fire, earthquake and other natural calamities.

The main target of Familiarization Exercise is to carry out the familiarization of the district and to get updates of areas of responsibility, so that rescue operations can be launched timely and effectively with optimum amalgamation of all resources, in case of any disaster. Apart from this, the main objective of Familiarization Exercise is to collect data of routes / hazard profile, history of disasters in the area, collection of important maps, important telephone directories and updation of resource inventory. During the Familiarization Exercise, the NDRF team will also conduct Awareness Programme / School Safety Programmes and Capacity Building Programmes by targeting Govt. establishments/ SDRF/ School/ Colleges/ Villages/ NGOs/ Volunteers and other official authorities.
