A capacity development programme was held on October 31, 2023, at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) Kohima, in anticipation of the impending Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx), a state-wide massive simulated exercise scheduled for November 2, 2023.

Home Commissioner Shri Abhijit Sinha gave the welcoming address, and the programme was headed by NSDMA Joint CEO Shri Johnny Ruangmei. The Department of Economics & Statistics ‘First report on Nagaland Disaster Statistics 2023’ was issued along with the keynote speech by Shri J. Alam, Chief Secretary of Nagaland. Smti. Khrolou Koza Lohe, Assistant Manager (Training & Education), NSDMA, offered the vote of gratitude.

In the technical session, which was chaired by Shri Rendemo Shitio, Assistant Manager (Response & Communication), NSDMA, NDRF, and DDMA Kohima presented their preparedness and competence for responding in the case of a disaster.

Maj. Gen. Sudhir Bahl (Retd), Senior Consultant, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), coordinated the exercise. He gave a quick overview of the IRS system and then led the Table Top Exercise, which aims to practise key disaster managers in their roles and responsibilities in a variety of simulated emergency situations.
