The NSDMA, Home Department in collaboration with the representative from Kohima Municipal Wards organized a two-day Capacity Building program on Urban Disaster Risk Management. The objective of the training on Urban Disaster Risk Management is to enable the representatives of the ward members under Kohima Municipal to develop an Urban Disaster Risk Management Plan/ Ward Disaster Management Plan. The ward disaster management plan would built towards Urban Resilient, which is an imperative parameter towards Urban Sustainable Development.
A two-day Capacity Building on Urban Disaster Risk Management Program was organized by NSDMA, Home Department in collaboration with 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency on the 7th and 8th March 2024 at the Conference Hall of Cathedral, Kohima. Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso graced the training as the Special Guest.
The inaugural program was chaired by Dr. Keviseto Kintso, invocation was led by Fr. Alex Tep, a brief introduction on Disaster Management was given by Shri Johnny Ruangmei Jt. CEO, NSDMA and a special song was presented by Mr. Diethozo Medeo which was followed by speech from the Special Guest Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, Hon'ble MLA 9 Kohima Town Assembly.
In the first session. Smt Khrolou Koza Lohe, Assistant Manager (Training and Education) NSDMA presented an Overview of Disaster Management which was followed by a demonstration on First Aid by the Indian Red Cross Society.
A total of 200 participants registered for the training which included 45 students from Class - 9 of Little Flower Higher Secondary School, 15 SDRF Jawans from the HG, CD & SDRF and volunteers.
The second day program began with a brief recap by Mr. Yanger Temjen followed by a presentation on City Disaster Management Plan (CDMP) by Smti. Khrolou Lohe, Assistant Manager (Training & Education) NSDMA which was followed by group activity. The session concluded with a brief introduction to Fire Safety by Fire and Emergency Services led by Sub Inspector Thejasetuo Keditsu.
